Our new
Organist and Director of Music is Shannon Gallier. Although
a native of Texas, Shannon comes to St. Paul's from Shreveport,
Louisiana, where he received his Bachelor's degree in organ
performance from Centenary College of Louisiana. While in
Shreveport, Shannon was a choral scholar and student organist
at St. Mark's Cathedral (Episcopal) for two years before taking
a position at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (ELCA) as organist.
At Holy Trinity he accompanied the adult choir and played
the two principal Sunday services as well as special mid-week
Lenten and Advent services and organ meditations. Shannon
has played recitals in Texas and Louisiana, and most recently
in New York City at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Time's
Square. He is a regular participant in the Royal School of
Church Music and a member of The American Guild of Organists
and the Association of Anglican Musicians.
An Episcopalian since age 15, Shannon is absolutely thrilled
to be working for the church he loves so dearly. While at
St. Paul's, he hopes to increase the quality of worship through
a renewed confidence in congregational singing. Many of his
music forums will focus on confidence in singing and music
reading. He and the choir will present the finest music at
the highest level of quality as is only fitting for our worship.
In his spare time, Shannon is an avid movie-watcher, news
addict, and history buff. He also enjoys traveling and discussing
(always politely!) politics. Shannon loves to meet new people,
so go up to the gallery any time and say hello!
